Problem encountered
In order to improve productivity of an heat treatment process over 2700°C, a prototype has to be designed. Best choices have to be validated very fast.
Objectives
  • To predict temperature and validate materials choices.
  • To propose solutions.
Solution
  • 2D and 3D simulations of inductive heated prototype
  • Simplified simulation of the charge: it's temperature is known and is not under precise ibnvestigation att this stage of the project
  • Sensibility studuies to simulation parameters, and some conception parameters.

Problem encountered
Designing a new furnace (increase in productivity) to comply with very stringent specifications - excellent thermal homogeneity .

Objective

Successfully produce the furnace the first time round - control development costs and predict output of the new furnace.

Solutions

  • Optimisation of thermal homogeneity by modification of the shape of the graphite furnace.
  • The temperature calculation is done by magneto-thermal coupled simulation in axisymetric 2D.
